The 19th Voix nouvelles composition session will enable 15 young composers, selected on the basis of scores, recordings and dossiers, to compose for solo vocal ensemble (Stuttgart Neue Vocalsolisten) and/or instrumental ensemble (Geneva Vortex ensemble) in the course of a three-week residency at Royaumont Abbey from August 21 through September 13, 2008.
In the framework of cooperation agreements, and with the support of the Foundation of France, Voix nouvelles has created a program to assist the career of students having followed the composition course.
Exchanges of composers and singers are organised with Québec (Domaine Forget – Nouvel Ensemble Moderne), Japan (Takefu International Music Festival), the Netherlands (Internationale Gaudeamus Muziekweek), and in France: The Percussions de Strasbourg, the Cairn ensemble, the Neue Vocalsolisten, the studio Musiques Inventives d’Annecy, the Centre International de la Recherche Musicale and the MANCA festival in Nice, the Studio National des Arts in Fresnoy.
In Royaumont workshops are jointly organised between Voix nouvelles and the Centre de recherche et de composition chorégraphiques directed by Myriam Gourfink.
These partnerships enable us to propose a follow up to students who participated in the Voix nouvelles composition course and thus continue their training in other composition courses, benefit from residencies, from commissions, and from multidisciplinary creation workshops (music-dance-video).
