Composers have often gone beyond the instrumental virtuosity acknowledged in their time. Eonta (1963) by Xenakis, the first masterwork composed for computer, is the very epitome of this endeavor in which writing requires mastery of new playing techniques. Devoted to the great contemporary classics in which the mind challenges the hand (Deuxième sonate for piano by Boulez, Sonate by Barraqué, Eonta etc.), this session led by Françoise Thinat and Jean-Philippe Wurtz offers a double training, in piano and in chamber music, with Wilhem Latchoumia, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger and the brass of the Linea Ensemble.
This workshop is intended for instrumentalists wishing to begin or pursue study of contemporary instrumental techniques.
Led by high-level specialists, it will also enable participants to become acquainted with Xenakis’ work Eonta, for piano trumpets and trombones.
(see the repertoire for brass)
