Investment policy

/Home/La Fondation Royaumont/Investments : Investment policy

The Foundation's investment policy is closely geared to its activities.

Investments (development, facility and restoration work) carried out since 1986, when a master plan for this type of operation was drawn up, have followed an comprehensive, long-term approach. The comprehensive approach entails systematically seeking consistency between restoration work on the one hand and development and facility work on the other. For the most part, investment projects, for which the Royaumont Foundation acts as project manager, involve both restoration and development.

All investments carried out at Royaumont, and all choices made, are determined by the cultural programs that take place there. The expansion of the Foundation's activities, which are primarily related to music and choreography, drove its investment policy with regard to:

comprehensive restructuring of the 238 m2 salle des charpentes and the 125 m2 salle de la poivrière rooms (restoration, heating, insulation, acoustics) in 1992 and 1993, making it possible, among other things, to organize working sessions with symphony orchestras and to host the training workshops of the Choreographic Research and Composition Centre.

The redevelopment of Room 1 (115 m2) in 1997 provided a rehearsal room with variable acoustics.

During the comprehensive restoration of the monks' refectory in 2001 and 2002, substantial scenographic work was carried out, including replacement of 600 seats and installation of a new lighting system and a modular acoustic system. The refectory has thereby become a highly professional musical performance venue. Meanwhile, the Cavaillé-Coll organ installed in this room, classified as a historic monument, is undergoing a complete restoration, with the construction of a buffet. It will be returned in 2005.

The Royaumont Foundation's cultural program thus drives and guides its investment policy.
