The Foundation's programme is focused on research, training and creative work, in other words on activities that help the artistic process to mature and grow. This is in keeping with the Royaumont Abbey's commitment to providing a place where artists can work and experiment. The purpose is to support the personal development of both young professionals and more experienced artists.
The Foundation thus brings together, in concrete form, artistic theory and practice.
Extending and rounding out these programmes, the work done at Royaumont is presented to the public in concerts, performances, meetings and tours.
The Foundation's programme is also based on a production policy; by overseeing the different stages of the production of a work, from concept to execution, the Foundation is able to uphold the artistic standards it has set for itself and to fulfill its cultural mission.
Lastly, Foundation's programme is pursued on a long-term basis. The programmes implemented in this historic building are designed in a long-term perspective that makes them meaningful and effective. Programmes are based on the idea that a genuine cultural policy needs time to bear fruit and that a historic building would be nothing more than a trompe-l'œil stage backdrop if it were merely a venue for occasional, short-lived events.
