The library

/Home/Abbey/Monument/visit : The library

Installed in the old chapter room, the library at Royaumont brings together several private collections, for the most part devoted to literature, poetry and the humanities (history, philosophy, theology, art history, etc.), to which were added acquisitions related to the cultural activities of the Royaumont Foundation since the last war.

The diversity of this collection, combined with the personal sensibility of each of the donors, gives the library as special character; it is a rich collection (approximately 18,000 volumes) as well as an eclectic and original one, which in former times would have been called a gentleman's library. Following an inventory and the establishment of a computerized catalogue, the library re-opened in 1995.
