For two weeks, a cast of young voices and pianists came together to work on Mozart’s Magic Flute <\/em>, under the guidance of director Jean-François Sivadier and vocal coach Emmanuel Olivier. “In opera, there is not music on one side and theater on the other. In opera, just as the theater comes only from the music, the play comes only from the song. Mozart is not a great man of the theater because he sets a great libretto to music, but because he does something to music: he makes it theater. A theater that is felt more than it is explained,” writes Jean-François Sivadier. “This way of entering the stage is meant to be free, poetic, serene, and always playful.”<\/p>
