For musicians, the end of the reign of Louis XIV was a golden period. In those early years of the 18th<\/sup> century, the magazine Le Mercure<\/em> galant published new songs every month. At the same time, young composers – Louis-Nicolas Clérambault (1676-1749), François Colin de Blamont (1690-1760) – created a new genre, the “French cantata”, by harmonizing the ebullient Italian music and the poetry appreciated in the Parisian literary salons. Fans of baroque music, Carla Chevillard and Adèle Gornet bring back to life all these light airs that are sometimes unjustly forgotten.
The soprano has worked on pages by Lully, Charpentier and Desmarets with Véronique Gens and the ensemble Les Surprises. A student of Blandine Rannou, Pierre Hantaï and Bertrand Cuiller, the harpsichordist is passionate about teaching and transmitting to the public. The two laureates of the Royaumont Foundation have joined forces to share with us the wild creativity of the Sun King’s contemporaries.
