Véronique Gens <\/strong>soprano
After dominating the baroque scene for over a decade, Véronique Gens has built a solid international reputation and is now considered one of Mozart best performers. Her repertoire is composed of the greatest major roles of the Tragédie lyrique. In addition to a wide repertoire of classical pieces, Véronique Gens gives many concerts, including Paris, Dresden, Berlin, Beijing, Vienna, Prague, London, Tanglewood, Stockholm, Moscow, Geneva or Edinburgh.
She performs very regularly in French melodies recitals around the world. With pianist Susan Manoff, Véronique Gens participates in the creation of the Orsay-Royaumont Academy.<\/p>

Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas<\/strong> Organ, Harpsichord, Musical Director
Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas is an active organist and harpsichordist since 2008. He has appeared as a soloist or with chorus and orchestra all over Europe, notably in Paris (the Madeleine), at the festivals of La Chaise-Dieu, Toulouse les Orgues and Monaco, and in Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas is the joint founder of the Baroque ensemble Les Surprises, which he has directed since 2010. With this group specialising in the vocal and instrumental repertory of the 17th and 18th centuries he has recorded two discs for Ambronay Éditions that were acclaimed by the French and international press, and were awarded the Diamant Opéra-Magazine and 5 de Diapason.<\/p>

Pascal Duc<\/strong> Musicologist
Pascal Duc started his career in music as musical advisor to the Paris Regional Cultural Affairs Bureau (DRAC) and on the board of the Île de France Music Festival. Upon making the acquaintance of Philippe Herreweghe he began working for the Chapelle Royale, then for the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, before joining William Christie as musical advisor to Les Arts Florissants, a post he holds to this day.<\/p>

    Presentation<\/h4>

    This course is intended for young singers entering the professional world. We will concentrate on the repertoire – from plainsong to liturgical polyphony – which was sung in basicilas and monasteries around the Adriatic Sea from the Republic of Venice along the Dalmatian coast as far as the Republic of Ragusa. We shall be exploring sacred vocal music – the manuscripts, but also their historical and liturgical context. Our aim is to trace the development of liturgical music from monody to the sumptuous polyphonic works which were based on plainsong, exploiting a rich vocal timbre to show at its best this repertoire which links the Middle Ages with the Renaissance.<\/p>
