Monteverdi’s emblematic Combattimento celebrates its 400th anniversary. It belongs to a unique genre that concentrates the summa of Monteverdi’s research into the golden mean between musical and dramatic expression, between the sung and the spoken voice. During a week’s work at the abbey, a team of researchers and the Foundation’s prizewinners came together to pursue this reflection, with Fabio Biondi and Luca Quintavalle providing artistic guidance, and researcher Chiara Girlando.
