Italian Ars Nova
Presentation
Under the direction of singer and musicologist Patrizia Bovi, the young artists will perform a range of characteristic pieces by Francesco Landini (c.1325-1397) and Jacopo da Bologna (fl. 1340-1386?), two masters of the Italian Ars nova who were able to combine ultramontane musical innovations with native forms such as the madrigale or caccia, to forge their own aesthetic.
The training consists of 2 modules: the first one in Royaumont and the second one at the Centro Studio di Musica Medievale “Adolfo Broegg” in Spello (Italy).
Teachers
Patrizia Bovi singing
Born in Assisi, Patrizia Bovi started learning music at an early age, first at the Conservatory of Peruia and then with Sergio Pezzeti. She began studying medieval and renaissance music by working with the Alia Musica ensemble from Milan and by attending seminars on ancient vocal practice in Italy and around the world.
In 1984 she founded the ensemble Micrologus, whose main goal is the research and interpretation of medieval music. The ensemble has met with great international success among the public and critics, and every year it gives several concerts in Italy and around the world.
